Boomer was born here at Double J. He and his littermate, Tessa, were owned and shown by Francisca McDonald of Queensland, Australia. An accident when he was young severely injured a hind leg, requiring multiple surgeries. Despite this, he went on to train in agility and herding, even competing at the Australian Nationals. However he never went into full-time agility competition like his sister. His dam, Betsy was our foundation female -- producer of international agility winners.
Shenna Lemche's Moo was born here on our place. He out of Lexy by Jef Blake's Klepto. Moo is trained in herding (with Gordon Watt), agility, and obedience. He's a great example of how well-bred working border collies can do practically anything. He has a sweet, happy temperament and beautiful working style. He's eager to please, quick, precise, and light on his feet. Moo is a pleasure to live with and a well-rounded dog.
Moo earned the coveted "excellent" rating from OFA for his hips and OFA normal for elbows. Moo is DNA tested as clear for early onset deafness as well as all other genetic border collies disorders except CEA. For CEA, he's a carrier, so he is only bred to females who are CEA-normal to avoid producing affected puppies. He stands just under 20" tall and weighs 37 lbs. We are very pleased with the two litters of pups that he sired with Kit.
Clyde is a beautiful, rough-coat male owned by Mark Pratt of Blackfoot, Idaho. He is approximately 20.5" tall and 45 lbs. Clyde was crossed with Betsy for a litter that whelped 4/14/12 and produced Francisca McDonald's great dogs Tessa and Boomer. Clyde is really smart and sweet. He passes on a great temperament to his offspring. He will work cattle for all the people in the Pratt family, and is a very talented dog. He moves cattle easily, no fuss, and will also work sheep. An athletic dog, he is still physically sound and the last we new he was actively working cattle at 11 years of age.
Sweep was owned by Loren Holmes of Red Bluff, California, but has since passed away in an accident. He worked sheep and cattle with confident intelligence, even as a young dog. His sire, Bob, is Peter Gonnet's successful open trial dog Bob. His maternal grandfather is Peter Gonnet's well-known Moss. Here's a short video we took of Sweep at Loren's house in spring of 2016. Sweep had a great work ethic -- he understood the job and wanted to please. He was a medium frame, smooth-coated black tri. Sweep was DNA tested as CEA-Normal and vet-checked good on hips via x-ray.
Klepto is owned by Jef Blake. A Betsy x Rocky cross, his littermates, M.T. Anderson's Rossi and Fernando Boldrini's Roy are exceptional cattle dogs. Klepto is approximately 20.5" tall and 38 lbs. He's smart and sweet with a great off switch - something that Betsy tended to imprint on her puppies. Klepto produced puppies with great aptitude for herding and agility. When crossed with Lea, he produced sheepdogs that were competitive at the highest levels of USBCHA competition. Klepto spent the first few years of his life learning how to burn up the agility course. He competed in the National Finals when he was only two years old and again when he was three and he became widely known for his great jumping style. This video is Klepto at his second National Finals. Klepto scored OFA "Good" on hips and CEA-Normal. We will forever be grateful to Jef for letting us breed back to Klepto, and for introducing us to Helen King who became a precious friend.
The Wizard is owned by Don Helsley of Caldwell, Idaho. He is an accomplished open-level sheepdog. His dam, L&M Ryn, won the USBCHA Open Cattledog Championship in 2012. His paternal grandfather, CV Joe, won the Canadian National Sheepdog Championship. Wizard's own win record speaks volumes about his ability as a stockdog. This video is of The Wizard as a 3-year-old at Big Willow Sheepdog Trial. Wizard is CEA-Normal and vet-checked good on hips via x-ray. He is powerful, confident, friendly, and athletic. He's medium frame, black and white, and rough coat.
It is with great saddness that we saw this fine cattle dog pass away in December 2010. Owned by Harry Stangel, Rocky fathered four litters with Betsy and all were outstanding puppies. Rocky was out of Al Vieira’s dogs Diamond Ben and Rosie Diamond. He was both smart and fearless. Whether gathering, driving, holding, or sorting cattle, he always knew exactly what the objective was and exactly where he needed to be in order to help. Rocky was 45 lbs and 20.5 inches. ABCA 200404
